Kyle Walker sparked a brilliant reaction with his cheeky dig at Arsenal fans following Manchester City’s crucial 2-0 win over Tottenham. The 33-year-old City captain led his team to victory, with Erling Haaland scoring twice to put City at the top of the Premier League table ahead of the final day.
Arsenal fans had attempted to disrupt City’s preparations by setting off fireworks outside what they believed was the team’s hotel. However, Walker confirmed with a sparkle in his eye, “We weren’t there, they’ve missed us!” Speaking to Sky Sports, Walker admitted he struggled to sleep but not because of the fireworks. “Last night I couldn’t sleep, I’m struggling to sleep,” he said. “Then you’re getting to the hotel today, I’ve heard they have tried to set fireworks off the night before but we weren’t there.” The Sky Sports panel, including Micah Richards, found Walker’s comments hilarious, and Arsenal’s rivals joined in the fun on social media.
One fan commented, “Kyle Walker has got the minerals. He just mudded Arsenal on live TV. What a legend.”City’s win means a victory at home against West Ham on Sunday will secure their fourth consecutive Premier League title. After the game, Walker made a classy gesture by giving his shirt to a young female fan, despite hilariously struggling to remove it.
