Milan is standing firm on their contract proposal to Mike Maignan, refusing to increase it as negotiations begin to stall, which potentially opens the door for Bayern Munich this summer.

The 28-year-old French goalkeeper, pivotal in Milan’s recent Scudetto triumph, has just over two years remaining on his contract with the Rossoneri. Discussions about a contract extension have been ongoing for several months.

In the background, Bayern has been closely monitoring the situation, seeking a long-term replacement for Manuel Neuer. Maignan has also attracted interest from Premier League powerhouse Chelsea this year.

Daniele Longo from Calciomercato.com reports that Milan has put forward a new contract offer to Maignan, totaling around €4.5 million net per season plus additional incentives, a significant increase from his current €2.8 million salary. However, Maignan is still holding out for a higher wage.

Milan is adamant about maintaining their wage structure and is therefore standing firm on their offer, causing negotiations to hit a snag. With Bayern’s interest looming, Milan would entertain offers in the vicinity of €70 million for the goalkeeper, although their immediate priority remains securing a new contract for him.
