Liverpool is reportedly considering a shock move for Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon, with the Reds eyeing him as one of their first signings in the post-Jurgen Klopp era. The 23-year-old midfielder has impressed this season, scoring 11 goals and providing 11 assists for Newcastle. His performances have earned him his first two England caps under Gareth Southgate.

According to The Daily Star, Liverpool is prepared to test Newcastle’s resolve with a bid of at least £100 million for Gordon. Newcastle signed him from Everton last January for around £45 million, but the possibility of balancing their books to comply with Financial Fair Play rules could see them consider a sale.

Despite Gordon’s Everton background, he is a lifelong Liverpool fan, which the Reds believe could work in their favor in negotiations. Gordon recently expressed frustration at being substituted in Newcastle’s win over Brentford but apologized to manager Eddie Howe for his reaction. Newcastle will face Manchester United on Wednesday, with Gordon expected to feature as part of their squad.
