Atalanta has officially announced their intention to acquire Charles De Ketelaere, ensuring Milan doesn’t incur any financial setbacks regarding the Belgian player.
Milan initially acquired the 23-year-old from Club Brugge in August 2022 for €36.5m, a significant investment reflecting his promising potential demonstrated in the Jupiler Pro League. However, his debut season with Milan proved underwhelming, with just one assist in 40 appearances.
Last summer, Milan loaned De Ketelaere to Atalanta for €3m, with an option to make the move permanent for €22.06m. Under the guidance of Gian Piero Gasperini, De Ketelaere has flourished, tallying 11 goals and nine assists in 44 games.
According to Calcio e Finanza, Atalanta’s confirmation of De Ketelaere’s acquisition ensures his foreseeable future in Bergamo.
Thanks to the structure of the agreement, Milan avoids any financial losses associated with the player. Instead, they stand to gain capital gains of approximately €90,000. As of June 2023, De Ketelaere’s net worth, based on amortization, was €29,288,889. By the end of the following month, it is projected to be €21.97m.
