The 32-year-old transitioned from Chelsea to Arsenal in January 2023 under an 18-month contract, with a £12 million ($15m) deal, and has since logged 51 appearances under Mikel Arteta’s leadership. Approaching the end of his contract this summer, the Italian international has opted for a ‘short-term deal,’ reportedly spanning 12 months with an option for an additional year. He has elucidated his decision to stay with the Gunners despite speculation linking him to Serie A clubs.

When quizzed about his aspirations with Arsenal, he expressed, “Win as much as I can and enjoy the moment, because that’s really important for me. Because if you are somewhere where you are not enjoying it, or you are not happy, then it’s difficult. So, moving forward [the goal] is trying to be here, be happy and achieve as much as we can.”

He further shared his contentment with staying, citing it as an honour to be part of the Arsenal family. His settled family life and the sense of belonging he feels have contributed to his decision. His integration into the team since the outset has been remarkable, fostering a sense of purpose and satisfaction rarely found elsewhere.

Having emerged as a pivotal figure in Arteta’s squad since joining, retaining the seasoned midfielder is a significant boost for Arsenal. Despite interest from Lazio, Juventus, Napoli, and teams in the Saudi Pro League, Jorginho’s allegiance lies with the north London club as he aims to contribute to their trophy pursuit.

Arsenal, currently leading Manchester City by one point, albeit with a game in hand for Pep Guardiola’s side, face a crucial fixture against Manchester United on Sunday.
