After competing in the World Athletics Relays Bahamas last weekend, the German track and field star—long praised as the “world’s most attractive athlete” by her fans and the media—has guaranteed her berth in the mixed 4x400m relay at the forthcoming 2024 Olympics.

Last Sunday, Schmidt posted a video of the enthusiasm to her Instagram Story. She included Manuel Sanders, Johanna Martin, and Emil Agyekum, three other German athletes, and said, “What a night.” In addition, she said, “From paradise to Paris.”

The 2024 Olympic Games are coming up, with plans to start on Friday, July 26, and end on Sunday, August 11.

Schmidt, who has a sizable social media following of seven million on Instagram and TikTok, used the platform to mark the official start of the Olympic season on Sunday. Her followers showered her with congratulations in the comments section of the post.

Numerous users expressed their support for Alica on TikTok, writing, “Good luck, I’ll be rooting for you,” and another, “Wishing you great success Alica.”

Schmidt traveled to Tokyo in 2021 for the Summer Games, but she decided not to compete. She subsequently announced that she was taking a break from the sport.

In August 2023, Schmidt expressed her dissatisfaction on Instagram with her 2021 performance and acknowledged the difficulties she had encountered, such as a Covid infection and injured ligaments. She expressed her desire for further achievement, but she didn’t waver.

Schmidt is active on social media throughout her sabbatical, frequently posting images and videos from her workouts and matches.

Anticipating the world relays this month, Schmidt emphasized the privilege of representing her homeland, expressing her deep honor on Instagram in April, stating, “I’m feeling so honoured to represent Germany at the world relay championships in one week. Let’s get it.”
