West Ham secures deal with Julen Lopetegui to succeed David Moyes

Lopetegui, who left Wolves earlier this season due to a disagreement with club management, is set to take over at West Ham after agreeing terms with the club, according to The Athletic.

Lopetegui has been without a position since the earlier stages of this season, departing from Wolves due to a disagreement with the club’s leadership. According to The Athletic, Lopetegui is now poised to assume control at West Ham once the season concludes, having reached an agreement with the club.

Moyes has faced mounting pressure at West Ham following a disappointing season for the Premier League outfit. With his team enduring 13 losses and currently sitting in ninth place in the standings, their recent 5-0 defeat to Chelsea added to the scrutiny. Ruben Amorim, the sporting director, had been linked with a potential move to the East London club, but it appears that Lopetegui is now in line to replace Moyes.

Despite interest from German powerhouse Bayern Munich, who are reportedly parting ways with Thomas Tuchel at the season’s end, Lopetegui seems committed to the West Ham opportunity. The report indicates that Bayern approached Lopetegui on Monday, but the Spanish coach has opted for the West Ham role.

West Ham will bid farewell to Moyes in their final two fixtures of the season, facing teams at opposite ends of the table. Their upcoming match against Luton Town on Saturday, May 11, will be followed by a visit to title-chasing Manchester City.
