The Icelandic forward, a key player for Genoa, hasn’t made the trip with Alberto Gilardino’s squad because he’s been battling a fever that hasn’t subsided since the weekend, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Gudmundsson, who has been the subject of speculation linking him to Milan throughout the 2023-24 season, currently leads Genoa’s scoring charts with 14 goals across all competitions this season. In contrast, his strike partner, Italian international Mateo Retegui, trails behind with six goals for the season.

The absence of Gudmundsson poses a significant concern for Genoa, especially as his usual replacement, Vitinha, is also sidelined due to discomfort reported after the team’s recent training session. As a precautionary measure, he has been rested as well.
