As the football season nears its climax and matches become increasingly demanding, Ligue 1 has acknowledged the importance of granting PSG and Marseille adequate recovery time before their crucial European matchups. By rearranging league fixtures, the teams will enjoy an extended preparation period, thereby enhancing their prospects of success on the continental stage.

The LFP Board of Directors convened recently to discuss scheduling adjustments for PSG and Marseille, taking into account their involvement in the semifinals of prestigious European competitions. Consequently, the Reims versus Marseille and Nice against Paris Saint-Germain fixtures, originally set for the 32nd matchday, will now be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 9:00 PM.

Moreover, mindful of the impact of rescheduling on other clubs, the LFP Board of Directors has proactively arranged for accommodations for Reims and Nice. Matches between Stade Brestois 29 and Reims, as well as Nice and Havre AC, initially planned for the 33rd matchday, have been rescheduled to Friday, May 10, 2024.

In order to maintain fairness and uphold the integrity of the league schedule, all other matches of the 33rd matchday of Ligue 1 Uber Eats will proceed as originally planned on Sunday, May 12, 2024, at 9:00 PM. This adjustment takes into consideration Marseille’s participation in the Europa League semifinal return leg, which precedes the league fixtures.

Following their impressive victory over Barcelona in the Champions League quarterfinals with a 6-4 aggregate win, PSG are set to face Borussia Dortmund on May 1 in the first leg, followed by the crucial second leg on May 7. With a six-day rest period before the match at the Parc des Princes, Mbappe & Co. are poised to benefit. Similarly, Marseille will enjoy a break from domestic commitments between their two European legs, further boosting their chances of success in the competition.

The rescheduling of fixtures underscores Ligue 1’s proactive approach to supporting the performance of French clubs in UEFA tournaments and enhancing France’s index ranking, a key strategic objective for the league. PSG will return to action against Lyon on Sunday, while Marseille will take on Toulouse on the same day.
