Just a few months back, Italian football legend Fulvio Collovati foresaw Juventus considering putting Federico Chiesa up for sale had Massimiliano Allegri remained at the helm. This prediction appears to be aligning with reality, even though both figures might depart the Allianz Stadium come June.

Chiesa expressed his frustration towards Juventus manager Allegri last Saturday after being substituted during the Derby della Mole against Torino. Reports in Tuesday’s edition of Tuttosport indicated that Juventus would entertain offers for the Italian forward in the upcoming summer transfer window, despite their desire to extend his contract.

Certainly, Juventus will entertain the idea of transferring Chiesa if he doesn’t commit to a long-term contract extension, given that his current deal expires in June 2025. However, it’s foreseeable that the forward might be hesitant to engage with contract negotiations if Allegri remains in charge beyond the season.

Beyond the recent touchline incident at the Stadio Grande Torino, Chiesa has conveyed his preference for playing in an attacking-oriented team, possibly in a winger role rather than as a central forward.

Following his notable performance in November 2023, where he scored a brace for Italy against North Macedonia, Chiesa emphasized the team’s positive and attacking mindset under coach Luciano Spalletti, despite the accompanying defensive risks.

While Chiesa and Allegri initially seemed to be in sync during the 2023-24 season, with the Italian striker scoring in a 4-0 victory over Udinese, Juventus has not consistently followed an attacking approach. Allegri’s continued reliance on defensive tactics has resulted in Juventus scoring only 45 Serie A goals in 32 matches this season, the lowest tally in 25 years at this stage of the campaign.

Should Allegri depart the Allianz Stadium in the summer, Juventus may have a better chance of convincing Chiesa to remain. However, this might not be the sole condition for the forward, who has yet to reach an economic agreement with the club and could prompt Juventus to consider selling him at the end of the season if a new deal beyond 2025 is not secured.
