The Toffees faced another penalty recently after acknowledging a £16.6 million breach spanning the three-year period until 2022–2023. Earlier this season, they incurred a ten-point deduction, later reduced to six points, for violating PSR regulations during the assessment period prior to the 2021–2022 season. BBC announced Everton’s official appeal.

An independent panel found Everton in breach of profit and sustainability regulations (PSR) by £16.6 million over the three-year period leading up to 2022–2023. The limit allows teams to incur losses up to £105 million over three years, leading to their second deduction. Currently positioned 16th in the Premier League, they hold a slim two-point margin above the relegation zone.

There’s a possibility of further point deductions due to interest expenses accrued from their new stadium construction at Bramley-Moore Dock, though resolution before season’s end seems improbable.

The hearing for the second appeal must conclude by May 24, five days after the Premier League’s end. Everton faces Chelsea tonight at Stamford Bridge.
