According to football transfer expert Matteo Moretto, negotiations between Juventus and Weston McKennie regarding a new contract have yet to reach an agreement, indicating a significant gap in their positions. If the American midfielder does not extend his contract beyond 2025, Juventus is prepared to list him for transfer.
Moretto, known for his insights on transfers, formerly on Twitter, now on X, discloses that Juventus is poised to place USMNT standout Weston McKennie on the transfer market should the 25-year-old fail to commit to a contract extension at the Allianz Stadium.
The report suggests that discussions between the two parties are currently at a distance, and unless McKennie agrees to extend his contract, Juventus will pursue other options. McKennie’s existing contract with the club is set to expire in June 2025.
It has been noted that clubs from outside Europe have shown interest in McKennie’s availability in recent weeks, indicating potential suitors if he becomes available.
McKennie returned to Juventus after a loan spell at Leeds United last summer and has emerged as a pivotal figure under manager Massimiliano Allegri during the 2023-24 season. Notably, he has contributed 10 assists in 31 appearances across various competitions for the club.
The American midfielder initially joined Juventus from Schalke 04 in the summer of 2020 on a loan deal, which included an option to buy for €21m, a clause that Juventus exercised in 2021.
