The 19-year-old, standing alongside his teammates, removed his training jacket and placed it over the mascot in front of him when rain began falling just before the highly anticipated Manchester United versus Liverpool clash at Old Trafford.

Kambwala’s compassionate act immediately brought to mind a similar gesture by Real Madrid’s Bellingham, who, last month, gave his tracksuit top to a disabled mascot amidst heavy rain before England’s friendly against Belgium at Wembley.

Making his inaugural senior start at Old Trafford, United’s central defender Kambwala marked his eighth appearance for the club overall in the 2-2 draw against Liverpool. Hailing from Congo, Kambwala expressed his pride in playing against the Reds, stating to club media: “It’s my job, it’s my passion. I know what I need to do on the pitch. I know I need to give everything from the first moment, to impress and to enjoy it. That’s what I like to do. So yeah, it’s my passion. And I know, like every time I have the opportunity to be on the pitch, I need to give everything to leave everything on the pitch.”

Kambwala aims to feature once more as United take on Bournemouth in their upcoming Premier League fixture on Saturday. The Red Devils have encountered a winless streak in their last three matches in the English top-flight.
