La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed that discussions between Fiorentina, Napoli, and representatives of Nicolò Zaniolo have commenced. Zaniolo, who is poised to depart Galatasaray for €20 million during the summer following his loan stint at Aston Villa, is the focal point of these negotiations.

After an underwhelming loan tenure with Aston Villa this season, Zaniolo is slated to rejoin Galatasaray. Despite featuring in 23 matches across various competitions, the former Roma forward found the net only twice and accumulated a mere 736 minutes under Unai Emery’s management.

Expressing his eagerness to return to Serie A, the 24-year-old has indicated his preference. Fiorentina and Napoli have reportedly taken the initiative by initiating preliminary discussions with Zaniolo’s representatives, as disclosed by Gazzetta.

Napoli seems to have a slight edge over Fiorentina in this pursuit, owing to the admiration of their new sports director, Giovanni Manna, for Zaniolo. Manna had previously endeavored to secure Zaniolo’s services for Juventus.

Gazzetta further asserts that the financial aspects of a prospective agreement align with Napoli’s transfer policies. Zaniolo’s current annual earnings of approximately €2.7 million complement Galatasaray’s asking price of €20 million following his return from Aston Villa.
