Ruben Amorim, the manager of Sporting Lisbon, has openly acknowledged the possibility of leaving the club, amid interest from Liverpool. The Reds are in search of a new manager following Jurgen Klopp’s announcement of his departure. Amorim, 39, has emerged as a top candidate for Liverpool, especially after Xabi Alonso decided to remain with Bayer Leverkusen.

Amorim’s future at Sporting Lisbon remains uncertain, as he stated, “I CANNOT guarantee that I will stay at Sporting next season.” He emphasized the need to focus on winning titles before discussing his future. Sporting’s success will play a significant role in his decision-making process, as he has previously stated that he will leave the club if they fail to win titles.

The Portuguese manager’s contract with Sporting runs until 2026, and Liverpool would need to pay his release clause, which stands at £12.8m this summer and drops to £8.5m in 2025. Amorim has also been linked with the Manchester United job, should they part ways with Erik Ten Hag, while Liverpool have also been linked with Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi.
