The Arsenal manager engaged in a comprehensive interview with GOAL and FedEx, covering a range of topics including the potential transition of his players into managerial roles, his near experience of representing England, his perspectives on the Premier League versus La Liga, encounters with Pep Guardiola, and more. At 42 years old, Arteta also discussed the demanding nature of management and his aspirations for the future.

Regarding his ambitions, Arteta expressed, “Just work daily, with your values, with your ideas, and follow your gut feeling. Be consistent, be disciplined, and then recruit top talent, because without players there is no success as a manager.”

When questioned about the toughest challenges managers face compared to players, he reflected, “When you come through that door, everyone’s expecting you to do something about it. They’re all looking at you and you have to have the right answers. And I always said there’s nothing like being a player, but I’m not so sure about that now. When you have a vision, an idea or a plan to do something, and actually that happens and you’re able to connect that many people, that’s so powerful. And as a manager that’s something that’s a unique feeling and you don’t get it as a player.”

Since assuming the position of Arsenal’s head coach in late 2019, Arteta guided the Gunners to FA Cup victory in 2020, weathering a challenging period during which calls for his dismissal were rampant. However, he has since transformed the team into serious contenders for major honors, credited to his adept handling of personnel and the club’s astute recruitment strategies. Arteta’s next objective is to secure either the Premier League or Champions League title, a goal well within reach for Arsenal in the current season.
