Mikel Arteta faces an anxious wait regarding Bukayo Saka’s fitness before Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League encounter against Luton Town. Saka, who exited late in the Manchester City draw, had been a significant doubt leading up to the crucial fixture. Despite his inclusion in the starting lineup, he had to be substituted after 78 minutes due to injury concerns. Alongside Saka, Gabriel Jesus started, with Thomas Partey, Gabriel Martinelli, and Takehiro Tomiyasu making appearances off the bench, indicating an improved injury situation for Arsenal.

Jurrien Timber remains the sole absentee, recovering from a muscular issue, and there are hopes of his return soon from a long-standing knee problem sustained in August. Arteta is expected to provide updates on Saka’s condition during his press conference today.

Saka had withdrawn from the England squad during the international break due to a hamstring injury. Although he managed to start against Manchester City, his substitution raised concerns about his fitness.

Arteta acknowledged Saka’s recent struggles, stating, “As you know he’s [Saka] been out for a few weeks now with a little problem. He was feeling that fatigue. Right now he hasn’t trained. He trained just one day before the match. He made a big contribution, but 90 minutes was a lot today.”

Gabriel Martinelli, who had missed the previous clash against Porto due to a foot injury, returned after the international break and featured from the bench against Manchester City without any apparent fresh injury concerns.

Jurrien Timber continues his recovery from an ACL injury suffered last August. While not yet ready for squad inclusion, his progress impresses the medical staff, indicating he’s nearing the final stages of rehabilitation, although a specific return date remains uncertain.
