Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, recognizes the importance of making a statement after this season and is eager to persuade Antonio Conte to take on the managerial role.

The 54-year-old Italian coach has been without a job since his abrupt departure from Tottenham a year ago, opting for a break to recuperate and spend time with his family in Turin. Despite stepping away from the spotlight, Conte’s name continues to grab headlines.

Napoli has been pursuing Conte for a while now, initially considering him after parting ways with Rudi Garcia before ultimately appointing Walter Mazzarri. Conte was initially hesitant to join mid-season, preferring to start with a full pre-season to implement his tactics.

According to today’s Gazzetta dello Sport, De Laurentiis is persistently pushing Conte to take the Napoli job for the upcoming summer, offering him significant control over transfers and a budget exceeding €100 million following the potential sale of Victor Osimhen.

De Laurentiis is not deterred by Conte’s high salary demands, understanding the necessity of substantial investment after a tumultuous season and aiming for a return to the Champions League.

While alternatives such as Vincenzo Italiano of Fiorentina, Francesco Farioli of Nice, and Raffaele Palladino of Monza are considered, Conte remains Napoli’s top priority.
