Manchester United’s young talent, Hannibal Mejbri, faces disappointment in his loan spell at Sevilla as he was excluded from their squad for a recent match against Getafe. Despite interest from Everton, the 21-year-old midfielder was loaned to the Spanish side in January with a £17 million buy option at the end of the season.
However, his time in La Liga has not gone as planned, with Hannibal failing to impress. Sevilla’s manager, Quique Sanchez Flores, expressed his decision to give Hannibal time to adapt to the club, stating, “He has to know where he is and we want to see him.” Despite this, Hannibal has struggled to earn his spot in the squad, playing under 90 minutes in four appearances and not even making the bench in the recent match against Getafe.
This setback comes after Hannibal’s loan spell at Championship side Birmingham last season and reports of interest from other clubs last summer. However, it seems unlikely that Sevilla will sign him permanently, and he is expected to return to Manchester United at the end of the season. Hannibal’s contract with Manchester United runs until the summer of 2025, leaving his future uncertain as he faces challenges in his loan stint at Sevilla.
