Reports indicate that Marcos Alonso will be leaving Barcelona at the end of the current season. The former Chelsea star joined the Catalan club less than two years ago but will depart as a free agent. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano tweeted the news, stating, “Understand Marcos Alonso will leave Barcelona as a free agent at the end of the current season. Massive respect between club and player but he’s leaving in June, decision made.”

Alonso made his debut for Barcelona on September 2 and has since made 44 appearances, scoring three goals. His debut season saw him win the league title under manager Xavi. However, Alonso has faced challenges this season, including a back injury that sidelined him for a portion of the campaign. Despite this, his departure from Barcelona has been confirmed.

Before joining Barcelona, Alonso played for Chelsea, where he won numerous titles including the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup. During his six-year stint at Chelsea, Alonso featured in 212 games and scored 29 goals. Alonso began his career at Real Madrid and also spent three seasons at Bolton Wanderers, as well as a loan spell at Sunderland.
