The Reds currently hold a two-point advantage at the summit of the table following Sunday’s Premier League encounter between Manchester City and Arsenal at the Etihad, which concluded in a scoreless draw. As the English top-flight season nears its climax, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp stressed the necessity for his team to maintain a positive mindset if they aspire to clinch the title.

Prior to the goalless draw between City and Arsenal, Liverpool had their own fixture on Sunday. Despite conceding an early goal to Danny Welbeck of Brighton, goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah ensured Klopp’s side secured a victory and preserved their lead at the top, just moments before their rivals were deadlocked at the Etihad.

Addressing the media after the triumph, the German tactician remarked, “We have to get through this (and) we decide if we enjoy it or not, pretty much. It will be tough and yes, it is sometimes nerve-wracking and the heart rate will be at 180 or 200 or whatever from time to time if you watch it or if you play in it. But if we all together enjoy this, then we have a chance. If we don’t, we still have a chance, it’s just really much more difficult and that’s why we try to stay positive in all these moments.”

Reflecting on the team’s nerves, Klopp noted, “When I talk about being nervous as a whole unit, we were more nervous years ago. That’s long ago but it is something we had to develop together… If we all together enjoy this, then we have a chance. If we don’t, we still have a chance, it’s just really more difficult and that’s why we try to stay positive in all these moments.”

Looking ahead, the Premier League leaders will face Sheffield United at Anfield on Thursday in another pivotal league encounter, one they aim to emerge victorious from.
