With speculation swirling around his possible moves to Liverpool and Bayern Munich, Roberto De Zerbi’s future at Brighton remains uncertain, pending discussions with club owner Tony Bloom. De Zerbi’s successful tenure at Brighton, marked by the club’s inaugural qualification for European football, has garnered interest from top European clubs like Chelsea and Barcelona.

Addressing inquiries about his future, De Zerbi stressed the importance of aligning with the club’s vision and objectives. “I have a different way to decide my future,” he explained to Sky Sports. “I want to speak with my club, I have a contract but the problem is not the contract – the problem is to find the same plan, the same target, the same vision for the future. For me, I have not decided yet what is my future, because I have the contract, but anyway I want to speak with (owner) Tony (Bloom), my club, to understand their plan, to understand his plan, the Tony plan. Then we take the decision together, without problems.

Pressed further on the possibility of extending his stay with the Seagulls, De Zerbi indicated, “At the moment, no. We didn’t find the agreement. The contract is a part of the future. It’s important for me, it’s important for everyone but it’s a small part, the big part is the plan. We have to speak with the club.”

De Zerbi underscored that his bond with players and fans remains unchanged regardless of the future outcome. “My relationship with my players, my fans, I think it can’t change depending on the future. What we did is history and we can’t forget it.” he remarked.

Reports suggest that Brighton could demand a fee of at least £12 million (€14m/$15m) for De Zerbi, given his contract until 2026. Notably, the club previously received £21.5 million (€25.1/$27.1 million) from Chelsea for the departure of former manager Graham Potter.

De Zerbi is set to lead Brighton against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday, seen by many as a potential audition for him to succeed Klopp.
