Getafe is eager to prolong Greenwood’s tenure with the club, expressing satisfaction with his development while on loan from United. His impressive record in La Liga, including six goals and five assists, has bolstered Getafe’s desire to retain him. Following public criticism of United’s initial decision to reintegrate Greenwood into their squad after legal allegations against him were dropped, Getafe President Angel Torres has voiced his intention to extend Greenwood’s loan for another season.

When questioned about Greenwood’s future at Getafe, Bordalas stated during a press briefing, “We don’t know. In the end his club has to decide their intentions with the player. Then we will also know the boy’s intentions for his future. But I can’t tell you. We are happy with his behaviour and his performances.”

Despite United’s former CEO Richard Arnold reversing his decision on Greenwood’s reintroduction, new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe remains undecided on the striker’s fate. Ratcliffe recently hinted at the possibility of Greenwood returning to United, emphasizing the importance of assessing facts over hype and aligning decisions with values and fan sentiments.

Getafe stands to benefit from any future transfer of Greenwood due to a 20 percent sell-on clause negotiated in last year’s loan agreement with United. Reports suggest Barcelona is interested in acquiring Greenwood permanently, prompting discussions between United’s sporting director John Murtough and Barcelona counterpart Deco. Juventus and Atletico Madrid have also emerged as potential destinations for Greenwood.

Following the international break, Greenwood resumed play for Getafe, albeit with a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Sevilla. Their next fixture sees them facing Madrid rivals Rayo Vallecano on April 13th.
