Manchester United scouts were in attendance as Barcelona’s young defender Mikayil Faye made his debut for Senegal, scoring a stunning goal in a 3-0 victory. The 19-year-old, who is yet to feature for Barcelona’s first team but has impressed for their B side, showcased his talent with a remarkable left-footed strike from 30 yards out.
United have reportedly been tracking Faye’s progress for the past three months, but they face tough competition for his signature. Barcelona rejected £13 million offers from Nice and Lens in January, with the La Liga champions believed to be holding out for around £25 million. Despite this, interest in Faye remains high, with Bayer Leverkusen and Inter Milan also reportedly interested.
Faye’s ability to play as a left-back or center-half makes him an attractive prospect for United, who are looking to strengthen their defensive options. Manager Erik ten Hag has been dealing with injuries to key defenders this season, including Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Lisandro Martinez. If United can meet Barcelona’s asking price, Faye could provide valuable defensive cover for the Red Devils.
