Wales took a significant step towards qualifying for another major tournament with a 4-1 victory over Finland in the Euro 2024 playoffs. Rob Page’s bold decision to leave out Kieffer Moore in favor of Brennan Johnson, Harry Wilson, and David Brooks paid off, with all three making important contributions.

Brooks opened the scoring early on, capitalizing on a rebound after Wilson’s shot was saved. Neco Williams doubled Wales’ lead with a stunning strike from outside the box, reminiscent of Gareth Bale. Finland pulled one back just before halftime through Teemu Pukki. However, Wales regained control in the second half, with Johnson scoring his first international goal in almost two years. A late goal from Daniel James sealed the win, marking his 50th cap in style.

With this victory, Wales are now one game away from securing their place in Euro 2024, facing Poland in the playoffs final. The Welsh team’s confidence is high, having lost only three of their last 20 games at home. If they can replicate this performance on Tuesday, Wales could qualify for their fourth major tournament in five attempts, continuing their recent success on the international stage.
