Lingard clinched his inaugural victory in the K-League with his new South Korean team last Saturday, defeating Jeju 2-0 despite playing against ten men. However, despite the success, the former Manchester United and West Ham United player found himself once again relegated to a substitute role, drawing criticism from the Seoul boss for his lack of effort after coming on in the 58th minute.

Speaking after the triumph, the Seoul boss expressed dissatisfaction with Lingard’s performance, stating, “Even though he came on as a substitute, he didn’t work hard and avoided tussle. The name value has no meaning on the pitch. I will tell him this exactly.”

The 31-year-old midfielder reportedly received several offers from clubs worldwide after parting ways with Nottingham Forest last summer. Lingard eventually joined Seoul in February but has yet to secure a starting position, featuring solely as a substitute in all three appearances. Additionally, he has received yellow cards in two out of three matches while wearing the FC Seoul shirt.

Following the victory against Jeju, Lingard and his teammates will have a break until after the upcoming international break. Their next match is scheduled for March 31 against Gangwon, who currently trail Seoul in the standings. Despite not being called up by England manager Gareth Southgate, Lingard will enjoy a two-week hiatus before returning to the pitch.
