Bologna has announced that their striker, Joshua Zirkzee, sustained a muscle injury, sidelining him for three to four weeks. Zirkzee, who hails from the Netherlands, was substituted during Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Inter and underwent medical assessments on Monday.
According to an official statement from Bologna, the former Bayern Munich forward has incurred a first-degree tear in his left femoral bicep, with an expected recovery period of three to four weeks.
Zirkzee, who has been instrumental for Bologna this season, netting 10 goals in 27 Serie A appearances, has attracted interest from top clubs like Milan, Arsenal, and Manchester United for the upcoming season.
However, Bologna’s director, Claudio Fenucci, recently expressed the club’s desire to retain Zirkzee at the Stadio Dall’Ara beyond the summer.
It’s worth noting that Bayern Munich retains an option to bring Zirkzee back in the summer for €40 million. Bologna’s next match is an away fixture against Empoli next Saturday.
