As per The Sun’s report, Chelsea is faced with two choices: either revamp their existing stadium or incur a high cost to acquire land and construct a new one elsewhere. If they opt for the Stamford Bridge redevelopment, there’s a possibility of temporarily relocating, similar to Tottenham’s approach at Wembley.

The article suggests that staying at the current location would entail demolishing the stadium and starting anew. Alternatively, the Blues have been linked to the idea of constructing a new venue at the former Earls Court Exhibition Centre, situated a mile away. However, the land acquisition alone is estimated at £500 million ($636 million) before any construction begins. If owner Todd Boehly proceeds with a £60,000-seater stadium, the overall expenses could surpass £1 billion ($1.27 billion).

Boehly, who acquired the club for £2.5 billion ($3.1 billion) in 2022, pledged £1.75 billion for player acquisitions and a stadium project. While £1 billion has already been utilized for player signings, progress on the stadium plans has been notably sluggish.

As the Chelsea board strives to advance potential stadium redevelopment, the first team is set to return to Premier League action on March 11, hosting Newcastle United in a clash between the 11th and eighth-placed teams, respectively.
