Torino coach Ivan Juric could be facing a significant suspension following an incident where he made a ‘threatening gesture’ and uttered an aggressive phrase towards Fiorentina boss Vincenzo Italiano.

The tension between the two teams had been mounting throughout the match, exacerbated by the referee’s handling of the game, which reached a boiling point when Samuele Ricci received a second yellow card for dissent.

In the closing moments of regular time, Italiano’s protest over a free kick triggered an angry reaction from Juric. Torino’s team manager, Marco Pellegri, intervened to separate the two men, but Juric still made what was described as a ‘threatening’ gesture towards Italiano and uttered a phrase that Sky Sport Italia declined to repeat.

According to La Repubblica, the gesture involved a ‘throat-slitting’ motion accompanied by the phrase: “I’ll cut your throat.”

The incident was observed by the fourth official and members of the FIGC, responsible for documenting such events and imposing penalties on coaches. Juric subsequently moved a few meters away to watch the remainder of the match from the stands, with Torino supporters making space for him.

Torino President Urbano Cairo appeared to recognize the severity of the situation, quickly making his way to the touchline to offer reassurance to Italiano after the final whistle.

Ironically, Juric was already one yellow card away from a touchline ban and had previously been booked for dissent before the red card incident. Consequently, this incident could result in a lengthy ban for the Croatian coach.
