Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker has sustained a “serious injury,” but he remains optimistic about the Brazilian’s return before the end of the season. Since mid-February, Liverpool has relied on Caoimhin Kelleher in goal due to Alisson’s hamstring problem.

Klopp stated, “Alisson has suffered a serious injury, not a short one. There is no real timescale on it, but it is a proper muscle injury. It’s not a short one. It is a rather serious one, but NOT a season-ending injury.” Alisson initially missed the 3-1 win over Burnley on February 10 due to illness, followed by the 4-1 victory against Brentford a week later due to his hamstring issue. Kelleher, 25, has stepped in admirably, including standout performances in the Carabao Cup final win over Chelsea.

Despite rumors of interest from Nottingham Forest in January, Klopp has dismissed any notion of Kelleher leaving, emphasizing, “For me, it was never a discussion.” Liverpool is set to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, with Kelleher expected to continue in goal.
