The renowned French footballer, who led his nation to World Cup victory in 1998, has been absent from coaching since concluding his second stint with Real Madrid in 2021. Despite being linked with various coaching positions, he is still awaiting the right opportunity.

As per his former teammate Thomas Gravesen, Zidane remains unemployed because he is only interested in a select few roles. There have been rumors that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is interested in bringing the former Ballon d’Or recipient to Old Trafford as a replacement for Erik ten Hag, but Zidane is not attracted to Manchester United at this time.

Gravesen disclosed to Discovery Plus, “I spoke to Zidane in Madrid two years ago and he told me that there are only three roles that he would like to accept. And they are Marseille, [Real] Madrid and the French national team. We were in Madrid two years ago and he told me exactly that. I also asked him if he was willing to manage again and there he told me that only if there were possibilities for those three.”

When asked about the possibility of Zidane joining Manchester, the former Everton midfielder remarked, “I would say that the team he had in Madrid was fantastic, and he was prepared from the beginning. At United the situation is different, it is very difficult to do something with the team that Ten Hag has at the moment.”

Ten Hag ended United’s six-year trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup last season and securing a return to the Champions League. However, inconsistency has plagued the team in the 2023-24 season, and with Ratcliffe now involved as a partial owner, changes are being considered at Old Trafford both on and off the pitch.
