Federico Chiesa had to exit today’s Juventus training session with a limp following a tough challenge from defender Alex Sandro, causing concern within the club.

The 26-year-old Italian winger has faced ongoing fitness issues and minor injuries throughout the season, resulting in just 15 starts out of Juventus’ 26 league games. He has already missed five matches due to injury and has only been in the starting lineup twice in the last two months.

Chiesa had a strong start to the season, scoring four goals in Juventus’ initial five matches, but his goal tally has since only increased by two. Recent reports suggest that his spot in the Italy squad for the upcoming European Championship could be in jeopardy.

According to TMW, Alex Sandro delivered a painful tackle to Chiesa during Juventus’ training session at Continassa today, leaving the winger in visible discomfort on the ground. After receiving medical attention, he attempted to resume training.

However, shortly after, Chiesa had to leave the session entirely at the request of Massimiliano Allegri, limping off the field. The ankle that was affected by the challenge was the same one that had been swollen after the Derby d’Italia defeat to Inter.
