Nevertheless, the LA Galaxy defender promptly addressed the criticisms aimed at Messi, clarifying the situation through a social media post. Responding to a fan inquiry about the shirt exchange with Messi, Zavaleta stated, “I never spoke to him lol. He’s clearly mad at the refs but agendas….”
While Messi may not have directly clashed with Zavaleta, he was involved in a heated altercation between Edwin Cerillo and Luis Suarez. Cerillo has chosen not to disclose the specifics of Messi’s words but noted that he felt the Inter Miami superstar was attempting to unsettle him.
Instead of Messi, Zavaleta’s Galaxy teammate Diego Fagundez ended up taking home Messi’s shirt. Fagundez proudly displayed the iconic No. 10 jersey after the match.
