Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, finds himself genuinely concerned as the club faces the likelihood of forfeiting potential revenues exceeding €100m. Following their Scudetto triumph, the Partenopei have encountered tumultuous times over the past six months. Dismissing both Rudi Garcia and Walter Mazzarri due to a significant dip in performance, they’ve appointed Slovakia coach Francesco Calzona until the summer.

In their recent encounter with Cagliari, Napoli once again faltered, settling for a 1-1 draw against Claudio Ranieri’s side. This outcome leaves them languishing in ninth place in the league standings, a daunting 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Bologna.

According to reports from Corriere dello Sport via TMW, Napoli’s prospects of participating in both the Champions League and the new Club World Cup appear bleak. These competitions collectively contribute over €100m in revenue to participating clubs.

De Laurentiis is urgently seeking qualification for some form of international competition, aiming to prevent Napoli from entirely missing out on European tournaments.
