In December 2021, Sergio Aguero, a revered figure among Manchester City fans, retired from professional football while playing for Barcelona due to a heart condition diagnosis. Recently, Carlos Tevez, Aguero’s former teammate at Manchester City and current manager of the prestigious Argentine club Independiente, extended an open invitation to Aguero, expressing his eagerness to see him back on the field.

Tevez openly expressed his desire to bring Aguero back into the game, stating to reporters, “Who doesn’t want to have Kun? First me as a teammate, and now as a coach. Even if it’s 10 or 15 minutes.”

Reports surfaced claiming that Aguero had agreed to train with Independiente, but Aguero himself has refuted these claims, clarifying during a Twitch stream that he would need to consult his cardiologist before considering a return to playing professionally.

“It’s totally a lie, I’m not going to train with Independiente,” the former Argentina international said. “Sometimes things are invented. I reiterate that the cardiologist said that I am well and that it is important that I am in good health. But to return to training at the First Division level, I would need to undergo a lot of tests.”

Aguero began his career at Independiente’s youth academy and made his professional debut for the club in 2003 before eventually moving to Atletico Madrid, where he rose to prominence as a world-class striker.

Independiente, under Tevez’s guidance, currently sits third in their league after the initial seven rounds of matches, accumulating 13 points. Their upcoming fixture is against Argentinos Juniors in a league encounter scheduled for Saturday.
