Virgil van Dijk’s lone goal during extra time secured Liverpool’s inaugural trophy of the season in a hard-fought victory over Chelsea at Wembley during the Carabao Cup final this Sunday. Following the trophy lift, Klopp expressed his joy, deeming the win “special,” while also taking a swipe at rival supporters who downplay the significance of the Carabao Cup.

In an interview with beIN SPORTS, Klopp remarked, “The whole celebration after the game was second to none. It was really special. It’s really crazy when you think about and I know fans of other clubs will say ‘Its just a Carabao Cup’ and stuff like this. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you wish you would be here. Come here and play a game like that, against an opponent like that and win it. You deserve to win it. That is super special. But, nobody in this country wants to see a quadruple winner, that’s why they put the next round of the FA Cup just three days after the final, and I have no clue who we can line up on Wednesday, so we’ll see that.”

In his final season at Anfield, the German manager is determined to secure as many titles as possible before departing at the end of the ongoing campaign for a year-long sabbatical, as previously disclosed.

During the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, the Reds were without key players like Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez. Moreover, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo sustained fresh injuries against the Blues, compounding Klopp’s woes. Naming a starting lineup for their fifth-round FA Cup clash against Southampton on Wednesday will pose a significant challenge for the German coach.
