Crystal Palace continues to show interest in Birmingham’s young midfielder Jordan James. The Eagles attempted to purchase the 19-year-old and loan him back to Birmingham, even after acquiring Adam Wharton from Blackburn. However, the offer was deemed too low, and James remained at St Andrew’s. Despite this, Palace and Birmingham have maintained contact.

In January, Italian club Atalanta made a higher bid for James, which was also rejected. Atalanta remains interested, and a potential summer transfer is still on the cards. James has impressed this season, scoring eight goals in 31 Championship appearances. Palace recently completed the £22.5 million signing of 20-year-old midfielder Wharton from Blackburn.

Wharton expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, praising Palace’s track record of developing Championship players into Premier League stars. Additionally, Palace announced Oliver Glasner as their new manager this week, following Roy Hodgson’s departure due to illness. Under Glasner, Palace secured a 3-0 victory over Burnley, with goals from Chris Richards, Jordan Ayew, and Jean-Philippe Mateta.
