Manchester United’s new regime, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir David Brailsford, is considering a surprise move for Luton Town star Ross Barkley. The duo, who are also involved with the club Nice in France, are reportedly impressed by Barkley’s resurgence at Luton and are considering him as a potential, cost-effective signing.

Barkley, 30, initially made a name for himself at Everton but struggled to make an impact at Chelsea. However, his performances for Luton have been stellar, with his midfield prowess a key factor in Luton’s impressive performances. Despite Luton’s uncertain future, Barkley’s contract situation could present an opportunity for United to sign him for a low fee if they are relegated. The 33-time England international has been in good form, scoring three goals and providing three assists in 20 Premier League appearances for Luton this season.

United are looking to strengthen their midfield, with Casemiro expected to leave and Sofyan Amrabat not likely to be retained after his loan spell ends. The Ineos team is mindful of budget constraints but sees Barkley as a potential top player acquisition at a reasonable cost.

Here is the highlight video of Ross Barkley’s skills at Luton Town.
