De Rossi reflects on Roma’s triumph- a heart attack win, the Roma way

Daniele De Rossi jokingly described Roma's tense penalty shootout win against Feyenoord as emblematic of the club's characteristic style, thanking the fans for their support.

Daniele De Rossi humorously remarked that the nerve-wracking penalty shootout against Feyenoord embodied “a quintessentially Roma style of winning,” crediting the fans for their support. He quipped, “I hold back from leaping on the barricades – I wouldn’t be able to now!”

The atmosphere was charged at the Stadio Olimpico as Lorenzo Pellegrini’s goal nullified Santiago Gimenez’s opener, leading to a 1-1 draw, just as in Rotterdam a week prior.

Reflecting on the night’s events, De Rossi shared with Sky Sport Italia, “It is wonderful to remember everything that happened tonight. It was my first European night in Rome in this role.” He expressed his satisfaction with the outcome, believing it was deserved, particularly due to their efforts in the first half.

Roma has a history of struggles with penalty shootouts, notably the painful European Cup Final loss to Liverpool and last season’s Europa League Final defeat against Sevilla.

De Rossi added, “It was a very Romanista way of winning, causing people heart attacks! I think we shook off a bit of fatalism, we have these sayings here like ‘never any joy,’ but we can turn over a new leaf.”

“We are not the ugly ducklings. We’re starting to win too, we are a good team in a great stadium, I am pleased.”
