The Hatters secured an unexpected lead in the first half when Chiedozie Ogbene scored with a header, but the home team mounted a comeback in the second half, netting four goals courtesy of Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Luis Diaz, and Harvey Elliott. Following Jayden Danns’ debut and his noticeable performance that caught Klopp’s attention, the German coach hurried over to congratulate the 18-year-old striker, embracing him warmly. In a light-hearted moment, Edwards approached the pair, leaving them all laughing at the center circle.

Despite the match’s outcome, Edwards approached Klopp during his post-match hug with Danns, revealing, “I played against his father!” Danns and Klopp shared a laugh at the unexpected connection, while Edwards affectionately patted the Liverpool teenager on the shoulder as he exited the field.

Edwards, who had stints with Wolves, Aston Villa, and Blackpool before retiring, also represented Wales at the international level, earning 15 caps. During his career, he crossed paths with Neil Danns, Jayden’s father, who played for clubs like Crystal Palace, Leicester, and Birmingham.

Given Klopp’s team’s injury struggles and the forthcoming Carabao Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday, the 18-year-old was given an opportunity to debut for the club as Klopp aimed to manage his squad and preserve key players.
