In a rematch of the 2022 final, where Liverpool emerged victorious on penalties following a goalless draw after 120 minutes of play, the Reds are set to face Chelsea once again. Liverpool’s outstanding current form, placing them four points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League, has established them as clear favourites to triumph over Chelsea once more. Conversely, Chelsea has struggled this season, winning only 10 games and languishing in 10th place in the table, a stark departure from their usual standards. Despite this, Jurgen Klopp believes that Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side, though improved since their last encounter, could still pose a challenge to Liverpool, especially given their injury concerns.

Klopp conveyed to BBC Sport, “Will we be big favourites? Definitely not. Since we played them (Chelsea) they have improved a lot and it will be tricky, this was exceptional tonight.” Addressing inquiries about injuries, he remarked, “I don’t even know if these boys can play again. The situation is not great, absolutely not… There are a lot of super important games coming up and we go day by day.”

Liverpool and Chelsea have met eight times since 2021, with Liverpool maintaining an unbeaten record against their opponents. They drew 1-1 on the first day of the current season, and Liverpool secured a comfortable 4-1 victory in the subsequent match last month. Liverpool narrowly defeated Fulham in the semi-final, while Chelsea comfortably progressed past Middlesborough despite losing the first leg.

The Carabao Cup final between Liverpool and Chelsea is scheduled for Sunday, February 25, marking Liverpool’s quest for their first trophy of the season, amidst speculation that it could be Klopp’s final campaign in charge of the Merseyside club.
