According to a report from German media outlet Sport Bild, with Carlo Ancelotti’s contract recently extended until 2026, the chances of Toni Kroos staying with Real Madrid for another year have increased. The Italian manager highly values Kroos for his tactical acumen in the midfield and is pushing for his contract extension, particularly with Luka Modric’s decreasing influence at the club.

Despite the emergence of younger talents such as Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni, Kroos continues to be a pivotal figure in Real Madrid’s midfield, consistently delivering in crucial matches for Los Blancos. His recent performances have convinced the Madrid hierarchy of his enduring quality, leading to reports that discussions regarding his contract extension are set to begin at the end of March, with both parties eager to reach an agreement.

Allegedly, Kroos has communicated to his inner circle his intention to either stay with the Spanish giants or retire from professional football at the conclusion of the current season. If he opts to pursue additional silverware beyond the summer, Madrid is prepared to propose a new one-year contract, mirroring the arrangement from 2023.

There are speculations that Kroos is contemplating coming out of international retirement to represent Julian Nagelsmann’s Germany in the upcoming European Championship if he receives a call-up. Nonetheless, Madrid will remain a significant aspect of his post-retirement life, as his family, including his wife and children, have found comfort in Spain.
