In an interview with Tuttosport newspaper, Carlo Cudicini, Chelsea’s loan player technical coach, expressed that the club does not lament the decision to sell Ruben Loftus-Cheek to Milan, citing a shift in philosophy.

Discussing Loftus-Cheek’s impressive performances at San Siro this season, Cudicini highlighted the club’s stance in Wednesday’s edition of Tuttosport newspaper. He emphasized Loftus-Cheek’s development at Chelsea’s Academy but emphasized that the club has embraced a new approach, favouring young players.

“I don’t think so. He has reached the peak of his maturity, but we have changed philosophy and we rely on young players,” remarked Cudicini.

Expressing satisfaction with Loftus-Cheek’s success at Milan, Cudicini acknowledged the emotional attachment but noted the challenges Loftus-Cheek faced at Chelsea, where his optimal position remained unclear.

Reflecting on Loftus-Cheek’s introduction to Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, Cudicini recalled the midfielder’s struggle with the coach’s tactical directives.

Loftus-Cheek’s move to Milan from Chelsea last summer, valued at €20 million, has seen him score five goals in 25 appearances across various competitions this season. His contract at the Stadio Meazza extends until June 2027.

During his time at Chelsea, Loftus-Cheek scored 13 goals in 115 appearances and played under Maurizio Sarri’s management.
