In November, Everton incurred a 10-point deduction for violating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability regulations. Describing the decision as “wholly disproportionate and unjust,” Everton declared their intention to challenge it. Despite the passage of months since the announcement, Everton, based in Merseyside, still await a response to their appeal, prompting Carragher to question the delay.

Expressing his concerns on X, Carragher queried the reason behind the delay in deciding Everton’s appeal against the 10-point deduction. With two weeks having elapsed, Carragher emphasized the urgency of the matter for Everton and the clubs in their proximity. He suggested that Everton and the Premier League should be well aware of the decision by now, wondering if the league is deliberately delaying until after Everton’s upcoming home game on Monday due to fears of potential backlash.

As Everton awaits the verdict, they currently occupy the 18th position in the table, just one point away from safety. A reduction in the 10-point deduction could significantly bolster their efforts to avoid relegation. However, reports suggest that Everton might face an additional points deduction, further complicating their situation.

Sean Dyche’s struggling Everton, slated to confront Crystal Palace at Goodison Park next Monday, will reportedly be informed later this month about the outcome of their appeal, which could determine their fate in the league.
