According to Sport, Ter Stegen is on the verge of making his first appearance for Barcelona since November, when he guarded the goal in the 2-1 victory against Alaves. Inaki Pena has filled in as goalkeeper during his absence due to injury, but the return of the German No.1 will be a much-needed boost for manager Xavi.

Ter Stegen has evolved into one of the premier goalkeepers in global football during his tenure at Camp Nou, amassing 394 appearances since his arrival in 2014. His comeback coincides with a favorable period for Barcelona; they have triumphed in four of their last five matches, though they still trail leaders Real Madrid by 11 points.

In Ter Stegen’s absence, Barcelona has competed in 10 league matches, securing six wins, two draws, and two losses. As the team’s captain, he is expected to retain the armband should he return on Sunday against Granada.

A victory against Rayo would narrow Barca’s gap to Real Madrid to eight points. They are scheduled to face Celta Vigo in the following weekend before resuming Champions League action against Napoli in the Round of 16 on February 21st.
