The inauguration of the upper tier of the new Anfield Road stand occurred before the club’s Premier League match against Burnley. With the unveiling of the new stand, Liverpool established a fresh league attendance record at Anfield against Burnley, as 59,896 spectators filled the stadium to witness the game.

Originally slated for completion before the 2023/24 season, the project incurred an approximate cost of £80 million ($100.7 million). However, the opening faced delays after construction company Buckingham Group entered administration in September. Subsequently, Rayner Rowen Construction assumed responsibility, and the upper tier was partially accessible during a December fixture against Manchester United.

The previous attendance record at Anfield stood at 58,757, dating back to a match against Chelsea in December 1949. Following the partial unveiling of the upper tier, the highest attendance reached 57,548 during the encounter against Arsenal on December 23.

Liverpool’s next Premier League fixture takes them away from Anfield, as Jurgen Klopp’s squad journeys to the capital to face Brentford.
