Mesut Ozil recently took a playful jab at Atletico Madrid’s aggressive playing style following reports of the upcoming sin-bin trial with blue cards. The International Football Association Board (IFAB) approved the introduction of a Blue card for a sin-bin trial, where players committing cynical fouls or dissent will be sent off for 10 minutes.

Atletico Madrid, known for their robust football approach and often reckless tackles under Diego Simeone’s management, drew Ozil’s jest. Referring to the sin-bin reports, Ozil humorously quipped on X, suggesting Atletico would have only six players left on the field. Despite leaving Real Madrid over a decade ago, Ozil’s loyalty to his former club remains evident, as he humorously taunted their derby rivals. Reflecting on his departure from Real Madrid to Arsenal in 2013, Ozil had previously revealed emotional sentiments.

Meanwhile, in the recent clash between Real Madrid and Atletico, the spoils were shared, with Atletico equalizing through Marcos Llorente after Brahim Diaz’s opener. Real Madrid is set to face Girona next, while Atletico Madrid will take on Sevilla away from home.
