According to reports originating from Rome, it is alleged that the owners of Roma are engaged in negotiations regarding the potential sale of the club to investors based in Saudi Arabia.

As detailed by La Repubblica, a meeting took place involving the head of Roma’s legal department in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, on Tuesday. While the discussion initially centered around the Riyadh Season sponsorship, it delved into more substantial matters.

Eric Williamson, a key figure closely associated with Roma’s owners, the Friedkins, and a board member of the club, made the trip from the United States to participate in the meeting, indicating the significance of the discussions.

There are two distinct groups expressing interest in acquiring Roma from Dan Friedkin – the government-controlled Public Investment Fund, which already possesses Newcastle United, and private investor Turki Alalshikh, who serves as a royal adviser and presides over the General Entertainment Authority.

At this juncture, the Friedkins aim to establish a partnership with one of the two Saudi entities, with the intention of retaining control over Roma. However, both the Public Investment Fund and Alalshikh seek complete ownership of the club, preparing offers amounting to approximately €900m, along with an additional €300m tied to the construction of a new stadium.

While the situation remains in its early stages, further developments are anticipated in the forthcoming months.
