Milan is currently in discussions regarding a fresh contract for goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who is aiming for salary parity with esteemed winger Rafael Leao.

Since joining from Lille in July 2021, the 28-year-old French goalkeeper has become integral to the Rossoneri squad, playing a pivotal role in their Scudetto triumph and consistently delivering remarkable saves despite the overall team performance.

Maignan’s existing contract, which he inked upon his arrival three years ago, offers him a net salary of €2.8 million per annum along with approximately €400,000 in additional incentives, set to expire in June 2026. Consequently, the club is eager to negotiate a new agreement for him.

According to today’s Gazzetta dello Sport (Page 18), Maignan is pushing for a doubling of his current salary in his impending contract, reflecting his significance to Milan and positioning him on par with star forward Leao, whose earnings can exceed €7 million net per year inclusive of base salary and intricate bonuses.

Discussions will persist over the forthcoming weeks, with both sides eager to finalize terms before the summer transfer window, during which prominent clubs like Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain might express interest.
