According to The Daily Mail, the Portuguese manager is determined to lead the Old Trafford club to success once again. He is aiming to collaborate with United’s new co-owners, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, who have taken control of football operations by acquiring a 25 percent stake in the club.

While Mourinho is eager to return to United, the club is not actively seeking a new manager at present. Erik ten Hag, the current manager, is under contract until 2025 and is entrusted with the task of steering the team back up the league standings. Moreover, many of the players criticized by Mourinho during his tenure at United, such as Anthony Martial, Luke Shaw, Marcus Rashford, and Scott McTominay, remain at Old Trafford.

Mourinho led United to success in the Europa League, Carabao Cup, and Community Shield during his nearly two-and-a-half-year tenure before being sacked in December 2018. Following his dismissal from Roma in January, he is available to pursue another coaching opportunity.

Currently positioned ninth in the Premier League, United has been eliminated from European competition and the Carabao Cup, leaving the FA Cup as their sole realistic chance for silverware this season. Ten Hag’s team is scheduled to play against Wolves on Thursday.
